Hussein Mohammed rallies support for local football as FKF Premier League gathers momentum
Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed has rallied support for local football as Sportpesa League action continues on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, with two matches on the cards.
Taking to X on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the FKF chief called upon football enthusiasts to come out in their numbers as Gor Mahia welcome Murang’a SEAL at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, starting at 4:00 pm local time.
Elsewhere, defending champions Kenya Police FC will be at their Police Sacco taking on Mara Sugar starting at 2:00 pm local time.
Local football support
”The Football Kenya Federation Premier League continues this Wednesday with two exciting fixtures. I urge fans across the country to come out in large numbers and support our clubs in the stadiums. For those unable to attend in person, the matches will be broadcast live on @AzamTVKenya and on the Azam app. Let’s keep building a stronger, more vibrant Kenyan football culture together,” Mohammed said.
His sentiments come shortly after communicating intentions to initiate drastic changes at FKF, amid fallout with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Harold Ndege.
”For too long, we have normalised and tolerated low standards in our institutions. This must stop. The reform agenda shall be a painful process that will take time, but it can and must be done.”
Gor Mahia will be aiming to close the gap between them and league leaders, arch-rivals AFC Leopards. A win for Gor Mahia will see them tie on 30 points with Ingwe, who mauled Tusker FC 4-0 on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

In their previous outing on Sunday, January 11, 2026, Gor Mahia were held to a barren draw by Shabana FC at Gusii Stadium, while Murang’a SEAL comfortably beat Mathare United 2-0 at Kasarani Annex on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Following the victory, SEAL took position 9 on the log with 21 points.
After enduring the 0-0 draw against Shabana, Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor expressed satisfaction that his men picked up a point against a challenging opponent in an away fixture.
K’Ogalo failed to find the back of the net after scoring four against Kariobangi Sharks in their previous outing, while for the Glamour Boys, it was a sigh of relief after enduring a devastating 3-1 defeat at the hands of Nairobi United previously at the same venue.
At Police Sacco, Police FC will be seeking to bounce back after playing to a 0-0 draw against KCB in their previous outing.
