The Kenya Rugby Union side BlakBlad has unveiled a squad ahead of the much-anticipated Prinsloo 7s tournament, set to take place this weekend from Saturday, August 2, to Sunday, August 3, 2025 at the Nakuru Athletic Club.

The lineup features a blend of experienced players and emerging talents as the team eyes a strong performance in the second leg of the National Sevens Circuit.

Squad

Leading the squad is captain Bryson Ogamba, who dons jersey number 12 and will be expected to guide the side both in leadership and playmaking duties. He will be supported by co-captain Elvis Otete, listed as number 24, who brings stability and energy to the squad.

The backline includes notable names such as Douglas Sifuna (13), Mulongo Meja (22), and Winston Ayieko (15), all of whom have previously proven to be lethal with ball in hand and defensively solid under pressure. Also featured is Daniel Oyoo (10), a utility back known for his sharp runs and agility.

In the forwards, Claude Kennedy (7) and George Ambale (14) are expected to bring physicality and breakdown efficiency, while the likes of Odhiambo Dennis (6) and Henry Juma (5) provide depth and reliability in contact play.

Completing the squad are Gabriel Otete (20), Nyabuto Derrick (21), and Wakhungila Victor (9), who round off what looks to be a well-balanced and competitive team.

The technical bench comprises Shuaib Wesonga, Derrick Masese, Pedro Benar, and Agnes Siele, who are tasked with shaping strategy and ensuring the squad remains focused across the two-day competition.

Blak Blad will be looking to improve on their recent performances and climb the circuit standings as the Prinsloo 7s offers a critical opportunity for teams to assert their dominance before the final leg.

Speaking exclusively to People Sport earlier, Douglas Sifuna, who guided the team to the Shield win at the Driftwood 7s in Mombasa last weekend, said the youthful side took the positives heading into the weekend’s action.

“The average age was just 22, and most of the players had little experience playing at this level. That pressure was difficult to manage, but they showed heart.” He said.

Sifuna was full of praise for the team’s new faces, lauding their courage and work ethic in their debut appearance at a National Sevens event. “I congratulate the nine debutants and wish them the best in their sevens careers. I’m proud of the effort they put in.”
