Strathmore Leos trio tops list of Prinsloo 7s standout performers
The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has revealed a list of the best performers following the conclusion of the second national rugby sevens series of the Prinsloo circuit on Sunday, August 4, 2025.
Stanslaus Shikoli, Victor Mola, and Elton Amalemba, who formed part of the triumphant Strathmore Leos team, led the seven standout players from the series.
The trio delivered a masterclass performance on Sunday, August 3, 2025, as Leos retained the Prinsloo 7s title with a commanding 24-7 victory over KCB Rugby.
Strathmore avenges defeat
The results marked a sweet dose of revenge for the students, who had narrowly lost 15-14 to the bankers in the previous weekend’s Driftwood 7s final.
Mola was particularly influential in the early stages of the final as he turned defence into attack by darting the full length of the pitch to register the first try.
The man who bagged double tries in the finals was not only the standout player of the final but also finished the competition as the top try scorer with a total of eight.
Additionally, his final cruise saw him sweep the board of the individual awards after he was also crowned the top point scorer and the ultimate prize of the series, Most Valuable Player (MVP).

His teammate, Amalemba, a former Saint Patricks Iten player and a member of the Shujaa 2024 team, also earned a shout among the best players.
KCB earn two slots
Meanwhile, the list also has KCB rugby duo of Samuel Asati and Vincent Onyala. The latter bagged a clever assist in the final encounter as Bankers mounted a comeback bid after falling behind in the finals.
Asati, who enjoyed a remarkable run in the tournament, has also secured a slot in the ultimate seven-team. The Shujaa lad came within reach of a crucial try in the final but was undone after he fumbled with the ball while just short of the try line.
John Okoth of Menengai Oilers and the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) Monks’ Brian Nyamboki wrapped up the list.
The duo played starring roles in their respective team’ fine runs, where Monks finished as the wild card team at third.
Monks, captained by Hassan Wambani, claimed the third-place playoff tie by downing Menengai Oilers 17-10 for the podium finish.
For their travails, Nakuru-based Oilers have got a single slot, with Okoth’s all-round powerful display in the series going down as an eye-catching.
With the listing of the best players from the second leg action in Nakuru, the action now moves to the third leg of the Christie 7s in Nairobi.
The leg will kick off on Saturday, August 16, 2025, and run through Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the RFUEA Grounds.
