Ambani outlines vision for Ingwe ahead of polls
Former Harambee Stars striker Boniface Ambani has officially declared his candidacy for the AFC Leopards chairmanship ahead of the club’s eagerly anticipated Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for Sunday, June 26, 2025, at Kasarani.
In a detailed manifesto, Ambani pledged to steer the 13-time league champions toward transparency, professionalism, and infrastructural development once elected in office.
Ambani emphasised the need for “improved and accountable governance,” vowing to ensure that all positions within the club are managed by qualified personnel.
“There can only be meaningful development of the game with the existence of a solid and virtuous governance structure,” he stated.
His administration, he said, would prioritise compliance, legal reform, and transparent dealings with football bodies such as FKF, CAF, and FIFA.
On infrastructure, the AFC Leopards SC legend committed to developing standard training facilities for the club.
“The lack of standard training grounds has not only hampered our football development but also shortened, if not ruined, the careers of our valuable sportsmen,” he said.
He pledged a collaborative approach involving stakeholders such as club branches, municipalities, and government agencies to achieve this.
Among his infrastructural priorities are full transparency on all projects, qualified consultants for pitch construction, and well-equipped club offices across the nation to improve service delivery.
In addition, Ambani’s manifesto spotlighted the professionalisation of the club’s football operations.
“AFC Leopards has registered slow progress in terms of player development and transfers to the international stage,” he noted.
To address this, he proposed monthly player awards, an end-of-year gala, and structured player contracts with social security benefits.
Ambani also promised to work with FKF to help create an environment conducive to professional football and assist other clubs in income generation through targeted capacity-building programs.
Meanwhile, Westlands Member of Parliament Hon. Tim Wanyonyi had earlier on Thursday, June 26, 2025, held a crucial meeting with candidates eyeing key leadership positions at AFC Leopards ahead of the club’s much-anticipated elections slated for Sunday, June 29, 2025.
The meeting, held in Nairobi, brought together aspirants for the chairperson, secretary general, and treasurer’s posts, led by chairman hopefuls Bonface Ambani and Enos Mutokah. Also in attendance were outgoing club patron Alex Muteshi and U-45 Unit Branch Chairman Olympia Musonye.
Hon. Wanyonyi, a long-time supporter of the 13-time Kenyan champions, used the forum to rally the contenders to unite for the good of the club after the polls.
He urged them to prioritise revamping AFC Leopards’ structures and reconnecting with grassroots branches to reignite the passion of the club’s vast support base.
