Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has vowed to revisit the controversial Kware killings matter once she resumes her seat in the National Assembly after suspension.

Speaking during a church service at Jesus Teaching Ministry (JTM) in Donholm, Embakasi East, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, the outspoken legislator, who was recently suspended for 20 sitting days, said she would not be silenced on the issue of justice for the women and families affected by the gruesome murders linked to the Embakasi quarry dumpsite.

Hatujaambiwa nani aliua wamama, she stated.

Nataka niulize watu wangu, niendelee nisiendelee?”

“Nazima nikirudi bunge, nitauliza hilo swali,“Wamuchomba declared.

The MP’s earlier confrontation with Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen sparked her suspension. She had sought answers on the recovery and identification of bodies dumped at the quarry, as well as progress in tracking down the main suspect, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, who escaped police custody almost a year ago.

Wamuchomba slams government inaction

Murkomen had told the House that 17 packages containing dismembered remains were retrieved, with forensic analysis identifying only five victims. He insisted that a multi-agency team was working to rearrest the suspect. Wamuchomba, however, walked out, accusing the CS of failing victims’ families and downplaying the gravity of femicide.

“Mr Speaker, I refuse to sit in this House and listen to the CS confirm that his Ministry is unable to capture suspects who were previously under their custody,” she protested before her suspension was enforced by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.

Wamuchomba has since doubled down on her position, accusing the government of neglecting women’s safety and shielding officials from accountability.

“CS Murkomen’s failure to aggressively pursue the perpetrators of the Kware femicide cases not only demonstrates contempt for the victims but also reinforces the pattern that, under the current government’s watch, perpetrators of femicide can kill women and traumatise families with impunity,” she said after her suspension.

Her remarks have drawn support from women leaders such as former Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba, who questioned Murkomen’s capacity to manage the security docket.

For now, the families of the Kware victims remain in limbo, awaiting justice as Parliament, the Interior Ministry, and the police continue trading blame. Wamuchomba insists she will not let the matter die quietly.
