Wamuchomba speaks out after 20-day suspension from parliament
Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba has broken her silence following her suspension from Parliament for 20 days.
Taking to her official X account on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, moments after the suspension, the lawmaker stated that she was punished for refusing to accept what she termed as “flimsy” answers from Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
Wamuchomba further said her ejection stemmed from her insistence that the government must explain how a murder suspect in the Kware dumpsite case escaped from police custody and why no arrest had been made since.
“I was jettisoned out of Parliament for 20 days for I refused to listen and accept the flimsy answers from CS Interior explaining how they cannot and are NOT able to arrest the murder suspect of the Kware dump site who escaped from CUSTODY!” Wamuchomba stated.
Justice delivery
She went ahead to question the government’s capacity to deliver justice if it could not apprehend suspects in high-profile cases, warning that such failures could push civilians to take matters into their own hands.
“If Cs cannot arrest and deliver justice, what are civilians ought to do?” she questioned.

Wamuchomba’s suspension
Wamuchomba was suspended from parliament for 20 days on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
Speaking on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula stated that she will serve the suspension, excluding recess days.
“As to the case of Hon. Wamuchomba, we call it contempt in the face of the court, not just contempt of court. Under Standing Order 107(a), as read together with (i)(a) and (iii), Hon. Wamuchomba shall serve a suspension from the House for 20 days, excluding recess days,” he said.
The suspension comes after she clashed with Murkomen after receiving what she described as unsatisfactory answers concerning the whereabouts of the Kware murder suspect, who escaped from police custody in Gigiri.
While responding to the CS after demanding to know the specific steps that the ministry and investigative agencies had taken to re-arrest the suspect, the MP lost her composure as she expressed frustration over the response given.
She stated that it was unacceptable for the Cabinet Secretary to confirm that his ministry could not apprehend a suspect who was previously in their custody.
She rejected the explanation provided, arguing that it offered no hope to the victims of the Kware incident.
“I refuse to sit in this house to listen to the CS confirm that his ministry can’t capture suspects who were previously in their custody. I refuse to listen to this kind of explanation. I refuse to listen to the answer he is giving,” Wamuchomba said.
