Ruto: Fatherhood is a sacred responsibility
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, June 21, 2026President William Ruto has described fatherhood as a sacred responsibility, urging fathers across the country to take a leading role in providing spiritual leadership, guidance and support to their families.
In a Father’s Day message on Sunday, June 21, 2026, the Head of State emphasised the critical role fathers play in shaping families and nurturing the next generation through love, discipline and moral guidance.
Ruto said fatherhood goes beyond providing for the material needs of a family, noting that fathers are called upon to be spiritual leaders who guide their households in faith and values.
“Fatherhood is a sacred responsibility centred on spiritual leadership, provision and guidance. Every father, you must know that it is a sacred responsibility to lead your family, to pray, to be a chief priest of your family, and to provide and guide your family, especially your children,” Ruto said.

Ruto also noted that fathers have a unique duty to nurture, protect and mentor their children, helping them grow into responsible and productive members of society.
He stressed that spiritual leadership within the home is a key pillar in building values-driven families.
