Radio presenter Festus Amimo’s widow speaks after his tragic death
Fallen radio presenter Festus Amimo’s wife, Rozy Amimo, has provided a sombre account of what life has taught her following the sudden demise of the late Luo radio icon, who passed on on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
Speaking on Thursday, December 11, during a visit of politicians to their Awasi home in Kisumu County, Rozy gave a glimpse of what kind of man her late husband was.
Amimo died on the morning of Monday after collapsing in a hotel within the Nairobi Central Business District.
Rozy recalled how Amimo, who until his demise was head of Radio in KBC’s Mayienga FM, walked out of their home, hale and hearty, as they bid farewell on that fateful day that would prove their final moment together.
She fondly recounted the good days with the veteran producer and broadcaster, recalling how he had big plans for the new year.

She also revealed how the veteran presenter was a man with dogged determination and kept his heart to getting results.
“Festus was a good friend. I had a dear friend who would stand with you to death; if he set his heart to something, he would always ensure he had succeeded at it. He had a lot of plans for December and his plans for the next year. but God always his plans,” she stated.
Living for a day
Rozy added how the tragic death had impacted her and changed her approach to life. She spoke on how she will value the truism of living every single day as it comes henceforth.
“Out of Festus’ death has taught me one thing: to always take one day at a time and always live for each day. He left the house by 2 pm for a function and had asked me what we would eat later in the day, a question I always jokingly answer with “I don’t know much, to his chagrin,” she stated.
Sudden demise
The renowned presenter, fondly remembered as Woud Amimo, is expected to be laid to rest this Friday, December 12, 2025, at his Awasi home.
His sudden demise took the media fraternity by surprise, with members of the political class who interacted and got acquainted with the journalist also expressing profound shock with the loss.
Among them is Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo, who challenged the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) to investigate the mounting cases of Kenyan dying from cardiac arrests
