The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced a fresh recruitment drive, inviting applications for more than 200 internship opportunities alongside several vacancies in specialised tribunals as it seeks to strengthen Kenya’s justice sector.

In a public notice released on Friday, July 24, 2026, the Commission advertised 201 graduate and diploma internship positions in addition to appointments to various tribunals that handle disputes in sectors including sports, energy, taxation, capital markets, co-operatives and HIV/AIDS.

The recruitment comes as the Judiciary continues implementing reforms aimed at improving access to justice and enhancing the efficiency of quasi-judicial institutions across the country.

More than 200 internship opportunities

The largest recruitment category is the Graduate and Diploma Internship Programme, which offers 201 internship positions for young professionals seeking practical experience within the Judiciary.

The internship programme is expected to provide graduates and diploma holders with hands-on exposure to judicial administration while equipping them with practical skills to improve their employability.

The opportunities form part of the Judiciary’s broader efforts to nurture young professionals entering the labour market.

Tribunal vacancies advertised

Besides the internship programme, JSC is seeking qualified candidates to fill several positions in key tribunals.

Among the advertised vacancies are:

• Chairperson, Sports Disputes Tribunal.
• Member, Sports Disputes Tribunal (Non-Advocate).
• Deputy Chairperson, Co-operative Tribunal.
• Chairperson, Capital Markets Tribunal.
• Member, Co-operative Tribunal (Non-Advocate).
• Member, Capital Markets Tribunal (Non-Advocate).
• Members, Public Private Partnerships Petition Committee (Non-Advocate).
• Members, Energy and Petroleum Tribunal (Advocate and Non-Advocate).
• Member, HIV and AIDS Tribunal (Medical Practitioner).
• Members, Financial Centre Tribunal (Advocate).
• Members, National Examinations Appeals Tribunal (Non-Advocate).
• Members, Tax Appeals Tribunal (Advocate and Non-Advocate).

The appointments are intended to strengthen institutions responsible for resolving specialised disputes outside the ordinary court system.

Who can apply?

According to the Commission, interested applicants must meet the qualifications outlined for each position on the official JSC recruitment portal.

Candidates applying for tribunal positions must satisfy the professional and academic requirements specified for their respective vacancies, while internship applicants must possess the relevant graduate or diploma qualifications.

The Commission encouraged interested persons to visit the official JSC jobs portal for detailed job descriptions, eligibility criteria and application guidelines.

Application deadline

JSC said all applications must be submitted through its online recruitment portal and must reach the Commission by Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

The Commission noted that only shortlisted and successful candidates will be contacted.

It also warned applicants against canvassing, saying any attempt to influence the recruitment process would result in automatic disqualification.

Recruitment is free

The Judicial Service Commission reminded applicants that its recruitment process is completely free of charge.

“Please note that JSC recruitment services are free of charge,” the Commission stated in the notice.

The Commission also reiterated its commitment to equal opportunity employment, saying recruitment would be conducted through a fair, transparent and merit-based competitive process.

This comes barely two months after the Commission announced a nationwide recruitment drive, inviting qualified Kenyans to apply for multiple job openings across the judiciary.

Its mandate includes promoting and facilitating the independence and accountability of the Judiciary, as well as ensuring the efficient, effective and transparent administration of justice.

The latest recruitment is expected to attract thousands of applicants, particularly for the graduate internship programme, as competition for public sector employment continues to intensify among young professionals.
