MP Elisha Odhiambo wants KEMRI to probe rising cardiac arrest cases
Gem Member of Parliament (MP) Elisha Odhiambo has called for research institutions to probe the causes of cardiac arrest that are claiming the lives of Kenyans.
Odhiambo, who linked it to COVID-19 vaccination, wants Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) to clear doubts in the minds of Kenyans.
The lawmaker noted an increase in deaths related to cardiac arrests ever since Kenyans received the COVID-19 jab.
Calls for investigation
“The deaths of the majority of Kenyans who suffered cardiac arrest could be linked to COVID-19 vaccinations.”
“People collapsing and dying from cardiac arrests is on the increase in the country, and maybe the COVID-19 vaccinations could be contributing to it,” he added.

Speaking in Gem Constituency, the legislator asked KEMRI and Kenyan doctors to help address the situation so that people are not lost through cardiac arrests.
“We need deeper investigations into the issue so as to detect what causes sudden deaths among Kenyans.”
He made the remarks after Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga suffered a similar death.
On Sunday, a similar fate befell the head of Mayienga FM, Festus Amimo. It is reported that he succumbed to cardiac arrest.
Political appeals
“It is important for our researchers to investigate it thoroughly so as to save Kenyans and allow them to live in peace,” Odhiambo said.
“We mourn Amimo, who died suddenly. That is why, in my thinking, I believe as a country we can do better in terms of addressing COVID-19-related effects.”
Odhiambo, at the same time, warned politicians against dragging Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo into the Kasipul by-election chaos.
He asked politicians not to interfere with Omolo, who performs his duties diligently, adding that he deserves respect and space to carry out his responsibilities.
“I am calling upon the Luo nation to embrace peace and for each politician to stay in their lane and discharge their duties.
“Politicians should not drag the name of a civil servant into issues that do not concern them. I saw some politicians in Luo Nyanza blaming the chaos that engulfed the Kasipul by-election on Omollo,” Odhiambo said.

“They believe that the PS Interior could have been the reason behind the chaos that also left Opondo Kaluma injured, yet that was not true,” he said.
“I want to ask our politicians to protect one of their own and desist from initiatives that would bring him Omollo down.”
“I wonder what the politicians stand to gain after soiling the reputation of the Interior PS.”
