Gem Member of Parliament (MP) Elisha Odhiambo has vouched for the reelection of President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 polls, citing the need for continuity and a progressive society.

Speaking during the president’s visit to Siaya County on Sunday, August 31, 2025, Odhiambo stated the government in place ought to be accorded another term for its record in initiating various development initiatives.

Ruto’s reelection

“I am here to continue the gospel that in 2027 we are re-electing Ruto again,” he stated.

“Come 2027, we will elect you again to have a progressive government moving forward,” he added.

The lawmaker also urged the president to consider allocating more slots to Siaya in the national police.

“I also request that next month, when PS Raymond Omollo does recruitment for the police. I am asking that the people of Siaya get more slots for Siaya in the national police,” he pleaded.

His sentiments come after Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi also affirmed his and his party’s support for Ruto and the broad-based government.

While affirming his support for the broad-based system, the Alego Usonga region stated that ODM will remain firmly under Ruto’s leadership and Kenya Kwanza’s agenda to unite all Kenyans.

“I want to agree with you that this is the trajectory that we took as members of the ODM party, and that is why we are with the president and working together with him,” he stated while referencing the sermon’s message on national unity and inclusivity.

Backing Ruto

The legislator went on to assure President Ruto that ODM MPs backing his administration would not renege on their decision.

“We do not intend to abandon the president in the near future, because we think that would be contrary to your message of today,” Atandi stated.

The politicians’ sentiments came as Ruto marked his second return to Siaya County after his attendance during the burial of former Raila Odinga’s aide, George Oduor.

During the function, calls to pursue national unity, equity, and fair development of Kenya took centre stage. The president, on his part, affirmed his commitment to help the county’s development projects.
