Kenya Power has announced planned power maintenance to take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025, affecting several areas in Nairobi and Machakos counties.

The utility company says the maintenance is necessary to improve service reliability and ensure continued efficiency in electricity supply.

In Nairobi, parts of Upperhill and Community will experience power outages between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Customers in affected areas include residents and businesses along 3rd, 4th, and 5th Ngong Avenues; the Kenya National Library, NHIF offices, the Ministry of Lands, I & M Bank, Nairobi Traffic Police, Nairobi Club, New Life SDA Church, AAR, and other adjacent customers.

The company urged residents and businesses in the affected areas to plan and make necessary arrangements to minimise inconvenience during the maintenance period.

In Machakos County, parts of the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) will also experience outages on the same day, with power expected to be unavailable from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The affected customers include Hela, Nordor, African Coffee Roasters, MAS Intimates, and surrounding businesses and facilities.

Improving reliability

Kenya Power highlighted that the planned maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability and stability of the electricity supply across the country.

It is always advisable for consumers to switch off electrical appliances during the outage and to avoid using sensitive equipment until power is fully restored. Kenya Power also encouraged businesses to make contingency plans to maintain operations during the maintenance window.

Power maintenance and upgrades are part of Kenya Power’s ongoing strategy to improve service delivery, reduce technical losses, and ensure that both residential and commercial customers receive a stable electricity supply.

Customers are encouraged to follow updates from Kenya Power on social media or the official website to stay informed about any changes or additional maintenance schedules.
