Officers from Kibiku Police Station, in collaboration with the Kirangari Location Assistant Chief, intercepted a large haul of bhang in Kiambu County on Monday, December 8, 2025.

The operation followed a tip-off from the public, highlighting the ongoing support communities provide in fighting drug-related crime.

The police recovered 1,508 rolls and 1.5kg of unprocessed bhang, with an estimated street value of Ksh 200,000. One suspect was arrested and taken into custody, pending processing and arraignment in court. The seized bhang was secured as evidence at the station.

“Following a tip-off from the public, officers from Kibiku Police Station, together with the Kirangari Location Assistant Chief, today conducted a targeted anti-narcotics operation in the Kibiku area,” the National Police Service (NPS) said in a statement.

“They successfully intercepted 1,508 rolls and 1.5kg of unprocessed bhang, with an estimated street value of Ksh. 200,000, and arrested one suspect. The suspect has been placed in custody, pending processing and arraignment in court. The exhibits were also secured at the station.”

This latest operation comes just a day after officers from Thika Police Station seized several rolls and sachets of bhang in the Majengo area. The operation, which took place on Saturday, December 6, 2025, led to the arrest of one person of interest. The police recovered 33 rolls and 26 sachets of cannabis sativa. The suspect is currently being held at Thika Police Station and will face arraignment in court.

Police step up operations

These incidents form part of a series of anti-narcotics operations carried out by the police in the past week. Two days before the Thika operation, officers from Kiugoine Police Station arrested two people with 38 rolls of bhang in the Makao area of Kiamaina Ward. Another operation in Kikuyu led to the arrest of four people and the seizure of 1,100 rolls of bhang.

The police say these operations are part of their ongoing effort to fight the drug menace and protect communities.

Authorities have stressed the importance of community involvement in curbing drug-related crimes. The successful interception in Kibiku demonstrates how public cooperation can lead to significant results. Officers say that most arrests are the direct result of citizens reporting suspicious activities promptly.
