Police issue traffic advisory along Mombasa Road ahead of HSBC 2 series
The Kenya Police Service (KPS) has issued a traffic alert for motorists using Mombasa Road and Aerodrome Road ahead of an eventful rugby event at the Nyayo National Stadium.
In a post by the Kenya National Police on X on Friday, February 13, 2026, the police issued the advisory urging motorists to follow instructions from traffic officers on-site.
“As you prepare to enjoy the #HSBCSVNS2 this weekend at Nyayo National Stadium, please be advised that the following measures have been taken to guarantee smooth traffic flow during the event,” Kenya Police said.
According to the police report, the Aerodrome Road will be completely closed, while Mombasa Road will be partially closed.
On the other hand, motorists are advised to use alternative routes where possible to avoid delays.
“Aerodrome Road: Will be completely closed. Mombasa Road: Will be partially closed. Motorists are urged to follow instructions from traffic officers on-site and use alternative routes where possible to avoid delays,” Kenya Police stated.

The advisory comes as Kenya braces up to host the 2026 HSBC World Rugby Sevens, with the opening leg scheduled for February 14-15 at Nyayo National Stadium.
Kenya Shujaa will headline the men’s competition, locking horns with USA 7s, Uruguay 7s, Germany 7s, Canada 7s and Belgium 7s in a fierce international showdown. In the women’s pool, the Kenya Lionesses will welcome Brazil 7s, China 7s, Spain 7s, South Africa 7s and Argentina 7s for a high-stakes battle on home soil.
“Kenya Rugby Union is honoured by the trust World Rugby has placed in us to host the HSBC SVNS 2. This milestone presents a significant opportunity for Kenya Rugby and the nation at large. Hosting this event will strengthen our global presence, expand commercial potential, and inspire the next generation of players,” Kenya Rugby Union chairperson Harriet Okach said after the announcement that Kenya would host the 2026 HSBC World Rugby Sevens.
“We are committed to delivering an exceptional, world-class event that showcases elite rugby, celebrates our fans, and highlights the unique cultural vibrancy of Kenya. We look forward to welcoming the global rugby family to Nairobi for an unforgettable SVNS experience,” Okach added.
