Matiang’i urges Kenyans to embrace responsibility and service
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary and Jubilee Party presidential flagbearer Fred Matiang’i has urged Kenyans to embrace responsibility and service.
Speaking at the Life Church International, Limuru, he drew inspiration from a church sermon and reinforced his message during a Jubilee Party grassroots engagement in Murang’a.
The call began with Matiang’i’s X post on November 9, 2025. “I was inspired by today’s message from Pastor Mr T Mwangi at the Life Church International, Limuru,” he wrote.
He continued: “The depth of scriptural insight, and the call to responsibility and service were both intellectually and spiritually stirring. Fellow Kenyans, we have work to do, in our homes, our communities and our nation.”

Unity and national ideals
Earlier on November 7, 2025, Matiang’i amplified the theme at the Jubilee Party meeting in Murang’a. He called on citizens to rally behind the ideals and vision of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, stressing unity over tribal divisions.
“Let us follow the ideals and visions of our party leader Uhuru Kenyatta, build one Kenya and a tribeless environment where it doesn’t matter where you come from, it does not matter your age, your gender, what matters is the contribution that the Lord has given you to make to our country,” Matiang’i said.
He described Kenya as “a long-distance country,” likening national perseverance to the endurance of Kenyan long-distance runners. “With the Kenyan spirit, we are a long-distance country; we always stay in the task and get there,” he told the gathering.
Grassroots engagement and civic duty
The Murang’a event formed part of Jubilee Party’s broader campaign to re-energise grassroots structures and reconnect with supporters in former strongholds. Matiang’i’s address focused on building a nation that prioritises contribution above ethnicity, gender, or age.
His remarks echoed the scriptural call to service he had highlighted earlier, linking personal duty in homes and communities to national progress.
The former Cabinet Secretary urged tolerance, coexistence, and collaboration as foundations for stability and prosperity. Jubilee leaders, including party officials, attended the Murang’a meeting, where Matiang’i spoke alongside displays of party banners and photographs.
