Jubilee Party Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i has emerged among Kenya’s most preferred presidential aspirants ahead of the 2027 General Election, according to a new Infotrak survey.

Results released on Monday, July 13, 2026, placed Matiang’i at 12 per cent, tying him with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna in third position nationally.

President William Ruto led the ranking with 32 per cent, while Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka followed at 13 per cent.

The findings place Matiang’i only one percentage point behind Kalonzo and eight points ahead of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who received four per cent.

Infotrak asked respondents: “If a presidential election were held today, who would you most likely vote for if that person were a candidate?”

The survey involved 3,000 respondents. Infotrak identifies itself as a market and social research company and publishes political and opinion polls through its official platforms.

Matiang’i gains ground

Matiang’i’s 12 per cent rating places him firmly within the leading group of politicians being considered for the presidency.

The result is politically significant for Jubilee[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object] as the former ruling party seeks to rebuild its national structures and position itself as a major player in opposition negotiations.

Sifuna also received 12 per cent, followed by Gachagua at four per cent and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino at three per cent.

Former Chief Justice David Maraga recorded two per cent, while Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua received one per cent.

Other aspirants, including George Natembeya, Eugene Wamalwa, Ndindi Nyoro, Okiya Omtatah, Ekuru Aukot, George Wajackoyah and Jimi Wanjigi, were grouped under the “others” category, which attracted one per cent.

Undecided bloc

The survey also showed that 18 per cent of respondents remained undecided, making them the second-largest group after those supporting Ruto.

Another three per cent preferred not to disclose their choice.

The large undecided bloc indicates that the presidential contest remains fluid, with political parties facing a major battle to win over voters who have not committed to any candidate.

For Matiang’i, the ranking strengthens his position within Jubilee and places him among the opposition figures capable of influencing negotiations over a possible joint presidential candidate.

However, the poll represents voter preferences at the time of the survey and should not be reated as a prediction of the final 2027 presidential outcome.
