KURA announces clean-up exercise of billboards mounted along Eastern Bypass
The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced plans to embark on a clean-up exercise targeting illegally erected signboards along the Eastern Bypass Corridor.
In a statement on Monday, September 15, KURA decried the proliferation of the signboards along the corridor, stressing that they pose a major security concern in addition to compromising the urban aesthetics of the area.
“It has come to our attention that the Eastern Bypass Corridor has been extensively occupied with signboards, many of which pose safety risks to road users and compromise the urban aesthetics of the area. In addition, a significant number of these installations have been erected illegally on public land,” the statement read in part.

The authority has sent an appeal to stakeholders to convene for a meeting that will address the challenge and ensure the safety and orderly development of the corridor.
The stakeholders’ meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Afro Sayari.
Stakeholders meeting
“In light of this, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority will be undertaking a clean-up exercise to restore order along the corridor. You are hereby invited to a stakeholders’ meeting to deliberate on matters relating to the road reserve along the Eastern Bypass. The meeting will be held on Thursday, 18th September 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Afro Sayari,” the statement continued.
Your attendance and input will be highly valued as we work together to safeguard the safety and orderly development of this important road corridor.
This comes a week after the roads authority announced a new digital procurement system in a move to ensure transparency in the authority through all tender procurement processes in the authority.
Director General Silas Kinoti, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, acknowledged that the move was in line with efficiency in tender procurement opportunities.
Kinoti has revealed the system will ensure digital procurement starting the financial year 2025/2026 through the newly launched platform identified as the Electronic Government Procurement System (e-GPS).
“I’m thrilled to announce our full transition to digital procurement from now on, starting this financial year 2025/2026 through the {e-GPS} platform. This move ensures end-to-end transparency and efficiency in our processes,” Kinoti stated.
He has further called on Kenyans to embrace the new platform while also welcoming Kenyans to register on the authorities’ websites to stay updated on tender opportunities.
