The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has notified the public of the closure of one lane along Ngong Road on Monday night, November 10, 2025.

In a statement released on Monday morning, November 10, 2025, KURA said the move is due to a demo of heavy machinery manoeuvres for road development, urging the public to take caution.

One lane closure

”KURA informs the public of a one-lane closure along Ngong Road around Junction Mall area tonight, Monday 10th November 2025 (8:00 p.m.–5:00 a.m.) for a demo of heavy machinery manoeuvre ahead of major erection of steel structures. Motorists are advised to exercise caution,” KURA said in a statement.

Meanwhile, KURA has also announced a temporary traffic disruption along Ngong Road around the Junction Mall area, set to take effect from Tuesday, November 18, 2025, to Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

According to the public notice, the interruption is necessary to facilitate the erection of a steel structure for the ongoing flyover construction in the area. The construction works will be conducted daily between 8:00 pm and 5:00 AM, except on Sundays, to minimise inconvenience to motorists during peak hours.

During this period, traffic will be diverted between the Nairobi City County Training School and the Kenya Science Campus of the University of Nairobi to allow for two-way movement within the affected section.

KURA has urged motorists to exercise caution while approaching the construction zone and to observe all traffic signs and directions issued by police officers and traffic marshals on site. The agency emphasised that these measures are intended to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance safety for all road users.

Planning accordingly

The authority has further extended an apology for any inconvenience that may arise during the construction period, assuring the public of its commitment to improving the city’s infrastructure.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused as we continue to transform urban mobility,” read part of the notice.

The traffic advisory is part of KURA’s ongoing efforts to upgrade Nairobi’s road network and ease congestion through the construction of modern flyovers and improved intersections.
