2 nabbed as police seize bhang in Kilifi crackdown

Police in Kilifi County have arrested two persons of interest following an intelligence-led operation targeting an alleged narcotics distribution network in the Sakina area.

Taking it to their X handle on Friday, June 26, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) noted that police officers acted on credible intelligence before conducting a raid that led to the apprehension of the two individuals and the recovery of a significant quantity of cannabis sativa, commonly known as bhang.

“Acting on credible intelligence, officers conducted a targeted raid in the Sakina area, where the suspects are believed to have been operating an illegal drug distribution network,” the NPS stated.

The police further noted that during the operation, two half-sacks of cannabis, cannabis seeds, and several packages of the substance that were allegedly ready for distribution were seized. The police also recovered a digital weighing scale, a hammer, believed to be proceeds of the illicit trade, and other exhibits, also believed to be linked to the operation.

“During the operation, detectives seized two half-sacks of cannabis, cannabis seeds, several packages of the drug that were allegedly ready for distribution, a digital weighing scale, a hammer, cash suspected to be proceeds of the illegal trade, and other exhibits believed to be linked to the operation,” the NPS statement added.

Police commit to enhance crackdown

The two persons of interest were taken into police custody, where they remain as investigations continue. Authorities said they will face appropriate legal action once investigations are concluded.

The latest operation forms part of the National Police Service’s ongoing crackdown on the trafficking and distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances across the country.

Police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking networks and called on members of the public to support law enforcement efforts by providing information on suspected drug-related activities.

Members of the public can report suspicious activities at the nearest police station or through emergency numbers and toll-free lines.
