Kabuchai MP threatens action over property destruction during by-election campaign
Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga has threatened to take legal action against the Ford Kenya Party over the destruction of his property during the by-elections.
While speaking during a presser before beginning celebrations for the victory of his candidate, who floored Moses Wetangula’s preferred candidate in the Chwele–Kabuchai Ward by-election, Vincent Maunda on Friday, November 28, 2025, Majimbo Kalasinga said that his hotel in Chwele Market was attacked by goons, whom he claimed were hired by the Ford Kenya Party.
The property was vandalised and brought down, and he now wants compensation, accusing Ford Kenya of being behind the incident.

According to him, the goons who were sent to cause chaos and destruction were all wearing Ford Kenya party colours.
He stated that the matter will not end there, adding that his house, which was destroyed and pelted with stones during a rally he held at his home after being joined by Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya to campaign for Erick Wekesa, will also be part of the compensation claim in the lawsuit he is preparing to file against the Ford Kenya Party.
He noted that police records are available and will be used as evidence since all the incidents were reported at the police stations.
“The way FORD Kenya officials send goons to vandalise my property in Chwele market and my home in Namakhele, I am preparing to go to court for them to compensate me for the property that I lost,” Majimbo stated.
He went on to thank the people of Chwele–Kabuchai Ward for washing away the shame he would have carried had his candidate lost, saying they went against all odds, rejected a candidate fronted by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, and elected an independent candidate.

Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, who campaigned for the independent candidate alongside Majimbo, said this is the appropriate time for Ford Kenya to come to an end, arguing that the Chwele–Kabuchai electoral outcome showed that Bungoma residents are fed up with the party.
Vandalisation of his property
This comes days after Majimbo’s hotel in Chwele–Kabuchai was destroyed. While reacting to the incident after the melee, he called out the National Assembly Speaker for not taking responsibility for what had happened, saying he expected the Speaker to at least own up to the mistake and apologise on behalf of the party, but he did not.

The loss by Wetangula in his home ward is a great blow to him, especially at a time when he is at loggerheads with his MP, Majimbo Kalasinga, who appears not to be reading from the same script as his party boss.
