Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga’s residence in Chwele, Kabuchai Constituency, has been attacked and vandalised by goons after the MP hosted Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya during a political campaign.

A video shared online by the Trans Nzoia governor on Saturday, November 22, 2025, depicted the extent of destruction meted out at the legislator’s house, where windows of the two-story apartment were broken.

Vandalised

Speaking after visiting the MP’s residence, Natembeya and former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati placed the blame on Speaker Moses Wetangula’s doorstep, accusing the speaker of sending goons to intimidate the politician.

“It is sad that a leader in the national assembly is the one doing these things. Sending goons to come to destroy the home of an MP because of different political ideologies,” he lamented.

Wangamati similarly expressed his abhorrence for the act through a post on his Facebook page.

“If a whole speaker of the National Assembly can send goons to vandalise the house of a member of the National Assembly just because of an MCA seat by-election. Then indeed these are desperate times,” Wangamati stated.

The incident follows after Natembeya also decried being targeted by live bullets earlier on during a political rally within the county in Mukweyu, Bungoma County.

Chwele/Kabuchai by-elections

The DAP-K politician was in the company of Bungoma gubernatorial aspirant Zachariah Barasa and former governor Wycliffe Wangamati.

The entourage was campaigning for Erick Wekesa, an independent candidate eyeing the Chwee Kabuchai MCA seat.

Wekesa, who is backed by area MP Majimbo Kalasinga, is set to face off against Ford Kenya candidate Vincent Maundu.

Meanwhile, the DAP-K party also condemned the incident via a post on its social media page.

The party demanded action from the IEBC and other relevant bodies.

“Political violence in Kabuchai, Bungoma County, by goons associated with Speaker Wetang’ula. The house of Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga has been attacked and destroyed. This is unacceptable, @IEBCKenya, @NPSOfficial_KE, and @DCI_Kenya, “ DAP-K statement condemning the incident stated.
