Caleb Amisi thanks ODM Kakamega delegates for defending him and Sifuna
Saboti constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has expressed heartfelt gratitude to ODM delegates from Kakamega County for what he described as standing firm in defence of him and ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna.
This comes just a day after the ODM delegates defended Sifuna and other leaders opposed to the controversial broad-based government arrangement from attacks from a section of the party members.
Taking to social media on Saturday, July 26, 2025, Amisi commended the delegates for not allowing external manipulation or intimidation tactics to derail the unity within the party.
Division
He suggested that certain top party officials were behind the attempt to sow division, warning that “divide and rule shall never be a political tool again.”
“Thank you, Kakamega @TheODMparty delegates, for standing in defence for me and my brother @edwinsifuna from attacks by goons hired by top party officials whose plan was to humiliate those against broad-based arrangements. I salute you, Kakamega, murio muno vane veru. Divide and rule shall never be a political tool again. We shall all walk together to ensure our brothers and sisters from Mulembe enjoy fruits of governance like other regions. Kenya needs a renaissance,” Amisi wrote on X.

Sifuna defended
A section of ODM delegates, while at the Golf Hotel in Kakamega County during the Kakamega County ODM delegates conference, defended Sifuna over his remarks on the condition of the broad-based government.
ODM party leader Raila Odinga also defended Sifuna, stating he is exercising his democratic right, besides being a party spokesperson, adding that anyone is free to have a divergent opinion.
“It is not a must for people to have the same opinion, and we must defend the right to speak. If Sifuna has spoken, he has the right to do so, and if one feels he or she has a different opinion from what Sifuna is saying, then he or she is free to say what he or she feels, and that is democracy,” Raila said.
