Former Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici has stated that the Democracy for Citizens (DCP) party, the Jubilee Party, and other formations within the united opposition represent what the majority of Kenyans want.

In a statement shared on her social media handles on Sunday, May 10, 2026, the Kirinyaga gubernatorial hopeful, who has been traversing the county through her Ziara Mashinani tours, said that this was the clear outcome from her engagements with residents.

“The feedback I’m receiving from Ziara Mashinani has been overwhelmingly positive as outlined herein: 1. Wantam is the minimum. 2. DCP, PLP, JUBILEE, WIPER, DP & UMP represent what the people want. 3. We shall walk together as the people of Kirinyaga. Let’s continue engaging. ~ PWN”, Ngirici said.

This comes days after Ngirici, who had been serving as the Kenya Seed Company chairperson, decamped to the opposition and proclaimed that she belongs to the “Wantam” movement.

Wangui Ngirici has also called upon the Mount Kenya region to rally behind retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom she regards as the region’s kingpin, together with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. She stated that anybody who goes against the two leaders would be swept away politically.

Kawira endorses Ngirici

This comes moments after being endorsed by impeached Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat in 2027.

In a high-voltage event held in Ngariama on Friday, May 8, 2026, where the two leaders pulled huge crowds, Kawira threw her weight behind Ngirici.

While speaking during the event, Kawira continued with her new rallying call, the “Fagia Wote” slogan, meant to spell doom for politicians allied to the state while drumming up support for Ngirici.

Kawira praises Ngirici

Kawira, who is also the party leader of the Umoja na Maendeleo Party (UMP), assured Ngirici of her support, saying that while other parties might betray her, hers cannot. She heaped praise on Ngirici, describing her as a woman leader who knows how to deliver.

“Sisi tuko na party yetu ambaye inasema fagia wote, na inaitwa UMP, Umoja na Maendeleo Party UMP, na mimi ndio party leader. Chama hizi zote zinaweza kumcheza wangui, lakini mimi, mama mwenzake, siwezi kumcheza. Nataka kusimama na yeye.”

Ngirici has also vowed that in 2027 she will not vie on an independent ticket, as she did in 2022, where she met her Waterloo. She said that vying as an independent candidate was a hustle that left her drained, insisting that she would join a political party in her bid to take over from Anne Waiguru, who is serving her second and final term.
