Wamuchomba visits Matiang’i at his Kisii home for talks with Kuria elders
Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has held discussions with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i at his home in Nyansiongo, Nyamira County, in a significant meeting with Kuria elders.
Hundreds of elders from the Kuria community attended the meeting at the residence of the Jubilee presidential flag bearer on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
Wamuchomba said she was humbled to join Matiangi in Nyansiongo to meet a delegation of Kuria leaders, aspirants, professionals, and youthful leaders who had come to pay courtesy to their leader.

She explained that the delegation raised concerns relating to land issues, community development, and inclusion.
The MP emphasised that the Kuria community has long been excluded from development projects, particularly in government appointments, and that these issues require urgent attention.
She noted that the Kuria people continue to advocate passionately for equitable representation and participation in governance.
Wamuchomba acknowledged the close ties between the Kuria and Kisii communities, noting that they are united in supporting the Fred Matiang’i candidacy.
She stated that the common goal of the engagement was to join hands in addressing national challenges, particularly to protect Kenya’s gains and prevent the continued erosion of the country’s development since independence.
“Today I’m humbled to have joined Dr Fred Matiangi in his Nyansiongo residence in Nyamira county to meet a delegation of Kuria leaders, aspirants, professionals and youthful leaders who had paid a courtesy to their leader. The delegation was particularly presenting their concerns on matters that concern their land, community and inclusion,” Wamuchomba stated.
Wamuchomba-Matiangi bromance
Wamuchomba’s close relationship with Matiangi cannot be ignored, as the two have been closely aligned in recent times. Many political analysts suggest that this alliance could continue beyond 2027, and had Matiangi vied for the presidency, he could have chosen Wamuchomba as his running mate.
Wamuchomba began aligning with Matiangi after he fell out with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who had been his ally since Gachagua’s impeachment in October 2024. During the launch of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), she held an early meeting with Matiangi at his home in Karen.

The next meeting took place in Thika, at a time when Matiangi had joined the United Opposition. During a subsequent church service attended by both, no other United Opposition leaders were present.

Wamuchomba has consistently viewed Matiangi as the leader the country needs, capable of addressing the pressing issues facing Kenya.
