Wamuchomba declares interest to become president with ambitious vision

Githunguri constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba has declared her interest to become Kenya’s president in the near future.
Taking to her official X account on Sunday, April 20, 2025, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) lawmaker who has since shifted her allegiance to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua unveiled her ambitious vision for the country should she get a chance to lead Kenya at some point.
Cottage industries
To begin with, Wamuchomba says he would create cottage industries and subsidise power if she becomes president.
According to her, every home with a backyard will produce a product for domestic consumption, ranging from toothpicks, spoons, pots, towels, and belts. To aid this, she says she would introduce cottage special zones with special power and water rates.
“One day I will lead this country. I will turn around available labour to riches. I will create cottage industries and subsidise power. Every home with a backyard will produce a product for domestic consumption. (toothpicks, spoons, pots, etc., towels, belts) I will introduce cottage special zones with special power and water rates,” Wamuchomba stated.
“I will establish a national symposium for our cottage industry. I will create a national award system for the best cottage innovators. I will create a cottage fund for incubation in every county.”
She went ahead to state that she would turn idle stadiums into cottage markets from 6:00 pm to 1:00 am daily with special cleaning squads. She further argues that she would provide extension officers to evaluate cottage progress and assist in technical advisory.
“Our idle stadium will have cottage markets from 6 pm to 1am daily with special cleaning squads. I will provide extension officers to evaluate cottage progress and assist in technical advisory,” Wamuchomba said.
Wamuchomba on industrial estate
Moreover, Wamuchomba detailed how she would revamp the country’s industrial estate by funding it to export the cottage products internationally.
She also pointed out that her administration would not export raw macadamia, coffee and tea but rather will process locally and sell final goods.
“I will revamp Kenya’s industrial estate and fund it to market our cottage products internationally. When I’m president we will not export raw macadamia, coffee and tea but rather will process locally and sell final goods. I will revamp Agricultural Mechanisation Unit to support value addition. When I’m president, women of Kenya will wear local hair wigs made here from banana fibres and biodegradable. All sanitary towels will be made here from biodegradable fibres. Who will make me a president? I have no money to campaign,” she wrote on X.
