Wamalwa warns IEBC against vote manipulation in 2027 polls
DAP-Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa has cautioned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) against being used to manipulate voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking in Masinga, Machakos County, on Friday, April 10, 2026, Wamalwa warned the IEBC chairman to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process and resist any external interference.

He said the commission must not be used to subvert the will of Kenyans, stressing that credible elections are key to maintaining public trust in democratic institutions.
“Tunataka kumwambia Ethekon, tukiwa hapa Masinga, kwamba yeye pamoja na tume yake wasikubali kutumiwa kuharibu mapenzi ya wananchi wa Jamhuri ya Kenya. Asikubali kutumiwa kubadili uamuzi wa watu,” Wamalwa said.
Plans to manipulate votes
Wamalwa further claimed that a section of leaders allied to the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) had allegedly expressed intentions to influence the outcome of future elections through the electoral body.
“Ruto tayari anajua ataenda nyumbani. Tumesikia wakisema kwamba kama kura hazitawatosha, wataongeza, na sasa wanataka kutumia IEBC kufanikisha hilo,” Wamalwa said.

Wamalwa also called on the IEBC chairman to streamline operations within the commission by removing officials he claimed had questionable records and were still serving in the secretariat.
In addition, he expressed reservations about the new technology being deployed by the commission, calling for its review or removal, citing concerns over its reliability and potential misuse.
“We demand the two things: clean up your secretariat by removing Marjan and others, and also removing the technology you are using, Smartmatic,” Wamalwa said.

Wiper Patriotic Front Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has also issued a strong warning to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on the night of Sunday, March 29, 2026, Kalonzo cautioned the electoral commission against any attempts to compromise the integrity of the upcoming polls.

“2027 is not a normal election; it is going to be a revolutionary election, and that is why we are calling out IEBC and telling them, You cannot afford to play with the future of this country,” Kalonzo said.
“Terminate the contract. The proposed extension between the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and Smartmatic is unlawful, irregular, and cannot stand,” Justine Muturi said.
