UDA intensifies grassroots election sensitization in Laikipia County
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has conducted grassroots election sensitisation sessions in Laikipia County as the party prepares for its upcoming internal polls scheduled for January 10, 2026.
In a statement shared on X on Thursday, December 18, 2025, UDA said the sessions brought together party supporters from across the county, offering them an opportunity to understand how the elections will be carried out and what is expected of participants at different levels of the process.

“As UDA grassroots election sensitisation sessions come to a close, party supporters in Laikipia county took part in large numbers to learn how the January 10, 2026, polls will be conducted,” the statement reads
UDA party officials explained the voting procedures and the structure of the grassroots elections and urged the residents to go for positions at the polling station level.
“UDA National Elections Board member Jimmy Kahindi, who oversaw the training session at G.G Rumuruti Boys High School, demonstrated the electronic voting and urged residents to go for the positions at the polling station level to take leadership of the party,” the statement reads

The session at Rumuruti Boys High School focused on practical demonstrations, allowing supporters to see how electronic voting will work during the polls. The emphasis on polling station-level positions highlighted the role of grassroots leadership in shaping the direction of the party. Attendees were encouraged to consider offering themselves for leadership roles as a way of strengthening participation and representation within UDA.
“Kahindi said the exercise is in line with the party’s Election and Nomination rules that stipulate that aspiring leaders and supporters be given adequate information on the grassroots elections, especially that they will be conducted electronically,” the statement reads

According to the party, the sensitisation is part of efforts to ensure transparency and preparedness ahead of the elections. By providing information early, UDA says it aims to reduce confusion on polling day and give members confidence in the voting process, adding that the focus on electronic voting also reflects changes in how the party plans to manage its internal elections.
As the January 2026 date approaches, the UDA party seeks to offer clarity on how the elections will be conducted and what steps they need to take to be involved, either as voters or aspiring leaders within the party.
