Infotrak: UDA strengthens lead as Kenya’s most popular party, ODM support drops
The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has strengthened its position as Kenya’s most popular political party while the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has recorded a sharp decline in support over the past two years, according to the latest Infotrak trend analysis.
The survey, released on Monday, July 13, 2026, shows UDA climbing from 16 per cent in September 2024 to 22 per cent in June 2026, making it the country’s highest-rated political party in the latest polling wave.
ODM, which topped the September 2024 survey with 38 per cent, has dropped to 21 per cent, representing the biggest decline among major political parties over the review period.
UDA posts strongest gains
The trend analysis shows UDA registering a six percentage-point gain since September 2024, while former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), which entered the survey after its formation, now commands 9 per cent national support.
“UDA rose from 16% in September 2024 to 22% in June 2026 and is the highest named party in the latest wave,” Infotrak stated.
“ODM led in September 2024 at 38% but stands at 21% in June 2026,” the survey added.

Jubilee Party recorded 6 per cent, while Wiper Democratic Front stood at 5 per cent in the latest findings.
Many voters remain unattached
Despite the movement among political parties, Infotrak found that a significant proportion of Kenyans remain politically unaffiliated.
According to the survey, 29 per cent of respondents said they do not identify with any political party, while another 7 per cent declined to disclose their political preference.
Political analysts say the sizeable bloc of unattached voters could become a decisive factor as parties intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Findings mirror presidential race
The party popularity trends complement another Infotrak poll released on Monday, which placed President William Ruto ahead in the 2027 presidential race with 32 per cent support, compared to 13 per cent for Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
The same survey, conducted among 3,000 respondents, also showed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i tied in third place at 12 per cent each, highlighting the changing dynamics within the opposition as political realignments gather pace.
Although UDA currently leads the party popularity rankings, the large number of undecided and politically unattached voters suggests the political landscape remains fluid, with more than a year remaining before the official campaign period for the 2027 General Election begins.
