The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has stepped up its grassroots mobilisation drive in the greater MOUNT Kenya region, with party officials leading the effort in Kiambu County on Monday, December 15, 2025.

The function brought together officials and aspirants from areas including Lari, Gatundu North and South, Juja, Githurai, and Kiambaa, among others.

During the event, various ward-level aspirants expressed their interest to the crowd, pledging support for the party and President William Ruto’s re-election. National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah praised the party officials for attending the occasion on short notice.

“We announced this grassroots election only yesterday, and I have to thank our party officials, led by our treasurer Japheth Nyakundi, for coming and instructing us on how we will proceed with the elections,” the Kikuyu MP stated.

The party is scheduled to hold elections on January 10, 2026, where a minimum of 20 officials will be elected per polling station to serve as the core support system.

These will form delegates who will become leaders at the ward level, progressing up to the national level.

The outreach drives follow the ruling party’s launch of grassroots engagements on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, with an event in Nyeri County.

The forum, held at Kagumo Teachers Training College, brought together top county leaders and senior officials from the party’s national secretariat in what UDA described as a major push to strengthen structures and energise supporters at the grassroots.

Those present included Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga, who joined National Elections Board Vice Chairperson Veronica Kiberenge and Sam Mwangi, the party’s Director of Logistics.

According to the party, the sensitisation campaign is part of a broader effort across Mt Kenya and other regions to ensure members understand the election process and the importance of participation at ward and polling centre levels.

UDA said the initiative is aimed at building an active, informed, and organised membership base as the ruling party heads into a highly competitive election cycle—one expected to shape its future leadership and internal cohesion.

“This campaign marks a critical step in UDA’s ongoing efforts to engage directly with its members, ensuring a strong, informed, and active membership base as we approach the upcoming election cycle,” the party said.
