Salasya warns Sifuna: ‘ODM is not your home’
Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has warned Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, urging him to exit the party amid what he described as shifting political tides within the outfit.
Taking to his X account on Monday, April 6, 2026, Salasya referred to Sifuna’s position in ODM as that of a temporary occupant, claiming the party was no longer his political home but merely a “waiting room.”

“Sifuna, my brother, this is your final boarding call! ODM is not your home. It’s a waiting room, and your name is already being called,” Salasya said.
Tenant without lease
The outspoken lawmaker also stated that Sifuna had misjudged his position in the party, claiming that influential figures like Siaya Governor James Orengo and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino wield more power.
“You thought you were inside the system, but you’re just a visitor being shown around by wenyewe. Orengo and Babu are the landlords; wewe ni tenant bila lease!” Salasya stated.

Salasya told the Nairobi Senator to leave the party before he was “quietly restructured out,” saying that public opinion, especially on social media, had already turned against him.
“Advice ni free: leave now before you are ‘restructured’ out quietly. Facebook trends don’t lie, narrative imechange kabisa. Don’t wait to be swallowed whole, walk out with the little dignity remaining,” Salasya said.
Sifuna show-cause notice
According to the letter from ODM, the National Executive Committee (NEC), at its meeting on February 11, 2026, resolved to initiate proceedings against Sifuna for actions that the party considers inconsistent with its constitution and resolutions.
The process, Wanga notes, follows Article 74 of the ODM Constitution, which provides officials the right to be notified of allegations and to respond before any final determination is made.

The notice outlines several charges against Sifuna, the first stemming from his appearance on a local TV station on July 22, 2025. During the interview, he allegedly declared the ODM–UDA MoU “dead,” remarks that, according to Wanga, contradicted the party’s official position and undermined its collective authority.
“Dear Sen Sifuna, RE: NOTICE TO SHOW CAUSE 0 “ADVANCE COPY BY WHATSAPP” TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to Article 74(2) of the Orange Democratic Movement Party Constitution, the National Executive Committee (NEC), at its meeting duly convened and held on 11th February 2026, resolved to initiate proceedings for your removal from office on account of acts amounting to gross misconduct.”
