Ruto slams leaders for who attended Karua’s party’s launch

President William Ruto on Friday, February 28, 2025, admonished a section of leaders who attended Martha Karua’s People’s Liberation Party (PLP) launch in Nairobi.
Speaking in the coastal region during his development tour, Ruto reprimanded the leaders, arguing that they did not present a tangible agenda to the people.
The head of state lamented that his critics spent over four hours discussing him and how to unseat him during the 2027 polls instead of listing probable solutions to alleviate Kenyans from issues bedevilling the country.
“I saw some people try to launch a political party yesterday; they spoke for four hours about William Ruto. I just want to ask, was the party being created for Ruto, or is it called the Ruto party?” he posed.
“Their agenda and manifesto is just about Ruto. I want to tell them that I did not send them there to talk about Ruto.
“Look for a party; give us a name and a manifesto,” Ruto slammed the leaders.

While setting the stage for an ideological contest, Ruto told the residents that his administration had laid out an elaborate plan to create employment, build infrastructure, and improve the country’s healthcare.
He thus challenged his critics to come up with policies instead of attacking his personality.
This was the second time Ruto slammed his critics during his tour in the coastal region. On Thursday, February 27, 2025, he accused his opponents of perpetuating ethnicity.
“We will not allow people who don’t have a vision to derail us with negative ethnicity and useless politics rather than unite us. Niko tayari kuunganisha wakenya wote,” he said in Lamu.
Party Launch
Among those who attended the launch were former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa.
Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi, Mukhisa Kituyi, and other lawmakers also graced the event.
The launch came days after the four leaders said they would work together to ensure that they make William Ruto a one-term president.
Gachagua sustains Ruto’s attack
Speaking on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Gachagua sustained his attacks on Ruto, terming him the greatest liar. Gachagua explained that the country’s critical sectors were failing due to unkept promises by the Ruto administration.
He claimed that Ruto managed to hoodwink the elite and common mwananchi; including the clergy who unanimously supported the Kenya Kwanza administration during the 2022 elections.
“In a record two years, Ruto has destroyed Kenya’s health and education system and made the cost of living unbearable, nothing is working. These two years have been filled with nothing but lies,” he noted.
“Ever since I was born, I have never seen a liar like Ruto. This guy looks you straight in the eye and lies without hesitation. Many people from home have blamed me, saying I’m the one who brought him to them. I try to defend myself, saying I’m just an ordinary Kenyan from Wamunyoro.”
