‘Do not hesitate to do what is good for Kenya’ – Kaluma tells Ruto

Homabay constituency Member of Parliament (MP) George Peter Kaluma has advised President William Ruto to improve and protect the country amid the crisis.

In a statement shared on Sunday, July 21, 2024, on X, Kaluma said that Ruto is the president of Kenya until 2027 and that he should not hesitate to do what is good for the nation and its citizens.

“President @WilliamsRuto: You are the President of Kenya until 2027 when general elections will be held. As President, do not hesitate to do what is good for Kenya,” he said.

Broad-based government

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker further urged the head of state to proceed and establish a citizen-friendly government that would benefit all Kenyans and transform the country’s economy.

“Proceed and establish a government of all Kenyans as you had envisioned and create the Nation of Kenya,” Kaluma said.

Ruto on Friday, July 19, 2024, while speaking during a press briefing at State House Nairobi, disclosed that after a wide consultation, he has decided to form a broad-based government that would harness the enormous potential and economic transformation of the country.

“I gave the nation my undertaking to reflect at length on these issues that have been brought into sharp focus by the people of Kenya, consult widely on the way forward and craft a broad-based Government that would harness the enormous potential of our country to turbocharge our economic transformation and inclusive growth,” he said.

Ruto on protecting Kenya

Speaking at Chebango in Bomet County on Sunday, July  21, 2024, Ruto vowed to protect the country’s democratic country from anonymous anarchists who have created chaos in the past month.

Ruto said that going forward there will be no more violent demonstrations following the deaths and injuries sustained by the protesters of the ongoing countrywide anti-government demos.

“Enough is enough! going forward I will protect the nation. We will protect Kenyans,  stop the killers, we will stop anarchy and will stop looters. Kenya is a democracy and we want a peaceful nation,” Ruto said.

“We cannot continue like this. The country is much more important than any group of people. We must stand together as a nation, protect our nation and make sure that Kenya is a democracy.I have given a chance to everybody to say whatever they want, it can’t continue like this, the country is more important than any group of people.”
