Morara cautions Kenyans against voting along tribal lines in 2027

Inclusive National Justice, Economic & Civic Transformation (INJECT) party leader Morara Kebaso has urged the youth to shun tribalism ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The government accountability advocate, in his video Easter Holiday message to Kenyans that he shared via his official social media accounts on Saturday, April 19, 2025, argued that tribalism has for a long time denied Kenyans an opportunity to get leaders because people are ready to vote for anybody from their tribe without looking at the candidates’ integrity and their capacity to deliver.
Morara hinted at forming a grand alliance that will bring together leaders of integrity, who he says will not be coming as kingpins of their tribe but as leaders ready to transform the nation.
“For a long time, tribalism has denied us an opportunity to get leaders in this country because people are ready to vote for anybody from their tribe without looking at the integrity of this leader and their capacity to deliver and their vision for this country.
“This time round, we are going to bring together a grand alliance of leaders of integrity who are not coming as kingpins of their tribe but as leaders ready to transform this nation. These leaders will raise an army of followers who are ready to vote beyond their tribe just by looking at the vision of this country,” Morara said.
Morara on alliance funding
According to him, the leaders in his alliance will not depend on sponsorships from some individuals and nations. Morara says they will be banking on Kenyans, who he says will fund the alliance through fundraisers.
“Ladies and gentlemen, these leaders will not be funded by former thieves or current thieves who are coming back to power to continue the hegemony that has been there. They will be funded directly by the Kenyan people through fundraising and not by billionaires or some vested interest from some foreign nations,” he said.
Morara on opposition
Morara further encouraged not supporting a section of the opposition leaders who preach tribalism. According to him, such leaders are only uniting without a clear vision apart from ousting President William Ruto.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am here to give you hope that our country will change because we are willing and ready, and we have that vision. I encourage the youth of Kenya not to board that bus of tribalism, of clueless opposition leaders who are just uniting but do not have a vision except removing the president,’ Morara argued.
“Our vision must go beyond William Ruto; we must think beyond removing the president. What is our vision? What is our stand on corruption? How will we turn around our economy and give jobs and opportunities to young people who have given up hope in the society? How will we deliver justice to victims of police brutality? This is the question that lingers in our minds, and we are not boarding that vehicle of tribalism and tribal alliances just because you want to defeat the president.”
