Morara hints at dumping Gachagua-Kalonzo team days after joining opposition

Inclusive National Justice, Economic & Civic Transformation (INJECT) party, led by Morara Kebaso, has expressed disappointment in one of their partners in the opposition team.
Currently, the opposition team is led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, People’s Liberation Party (PLP) party leader Martha Karua, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugene Wamalwa.
Taking to his official X account on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Morara, in what appears to be a direct hint at a possible exit from the opposition, stated that his party has found it difficult to continue associating itself with leaders who think tribalism, speak tribalism, and plan tribalism, arguing that it is not founded on tribal hate as the basis of political change.
Morara further stated that his party would only work with other leaders and other political parties only if their values are aligned to his.
Morara’s disappointment
Without naming anyone, Morara said that the INJECT party had privately and respectfully conveyed their disappointment with one of their partners in the opposition and was hoping to see some change in the coming days.
“INJECT Party has found it very difficult to continue associating itself with leaders who think tribalism, speak tribalism, and plan tribalism. Our party is not founded on tribal hate as the basis of political change.
“It is our desire to work with other leaders and other political parties if and only if their values are aligned to ours. It’s not enough to say RUTO MUST GO. We must reimagine and create a post-Ruto future. We have privately and respectfully conveyed our disappointment with one of our partners in the opposition. We hope to see some change in the coming days,” Morara stated.

Morara joins opposition
Early this month, Morara announced that his party had joined the opposition coalition and would be at the forefront of faulting the government moving forward.
In a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday, March 3, 2025, Morara stated that the party is driven by a need to bring forth a better country and to ensure that the country’s Gen Zs get opportunities to thrive and go far in their careers.
“Our job is not to complain about this or that & him or her. Our mission is to offer solutions. To ensure that the values and principles of good governance are held in high esteem. We want justice and opportunities for the youth to live, work, and grow,” he said.
His statement came two days after he held a private meeting with Gachagua, which he said they had discussed key national issues, including political reforms, youth unemployment, and human rights concerns.
In a statement shared via his X account on Saturday, March 1, 2025, Kebaso emphasized the need for practical steps to drive meaningful change in the country. He noted that the discussions focused on the state of Kenyan politics and the urgent need for reforms to address pressing societal challenges.
“I met with HE @rigathi to discuss the reality of Kenyan politics and the practical steps that should be taken for meaningful reforms. We also discussed the issue of youth unemployment, economic exclusion, and human rights abuse,” Kebaso stated.
Morara would then attend the Gachagua-Kalonzo meeting on Tuesday, March 4, amid reports of a coalition party forming to challenge President William Ruto in 2027.
DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa, PLP’s Martha Karua, and businessman Jimi Wanjigi also attended the meeting.
