Millie Odhiambo condemns Alai’s attack on Winnie Odinga
Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has criticised Kileleshwa MCA and blogger Robert Alai for targeting EALA MP Winnie Odinga, warning that harassment of women in politics will not be tolerated.

Odhiambo was speaking during the commemoration of two decades of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in Mombasa on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
“Na la mwisho ningetaka kuonya. Ningetaka kuonya. Kuna mtu nimeona ameattack Winnie Odinga. Mimi kama mtetezi ya wamama. I want to say this, whether it is Alai or wherever the name is. Nimeona, you like harassing women, but where Millie Odhiambo is, we will deal with you head-on,” she warned.
“You will not touch! Where Winnie Odinga is concerned, that is the heart of Baba.”
She went on to stress the cultural and moral implications of targeting a woman in mourning.
“And it is against Luo culture to attack a person who is still mourning. Saa hii umeona kama tumeona picha ya Baba ata Winnie amelia. And then you are attacking her. I want to tell you, Alai, you attack Winnie Odinga, you attack Millie Odhiambo na wamama wa ODM.”
In a separate post on Facebook, Odhiambo doubled down on her defence of Winnie Odinga, accusing Alai of habitually targeting women in politics.
“Robert Alai, you are used to attacking women and getting away with it. Winnie Odinga did not attack Governor Gladys Wanga and so quit trying to pit one against the other. You are infact the one implicitly attacking Wanga,” She wrote.
“I can assure you my brother I can be equally petty when it comes to defending women. It is exactly one month since Winnie lost her dad. It is uncouth and uncultured to attack her, but then again, why would I expect you to understand? Bring it on. I am waiting.”

Alai questions Winnie’s role
The warning follows comments made by Alai earlier on Saturday, in which he questioned Winnie Odinga’s role in the party and her political experience. He said she doesn’t have political experience to give anyone direction in ODM and criticised her for insulting female leaders.
Alai also argued that the ODM leadership, particularly Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, allowed young leaders like Winnie to lecture senior members, describing her claims as shameful and extremely unfortunate. He called on other party leaders not to allow such behaviour to disrupt the party.
The incident comes amid growing tensions within ODM following the party’s 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa, which were meant to unify members after the passing of Raila Odinga. Disagreements over the party’s direction, including its support for a broad-based government and alignment with President William Ruto in 2027, have caused visible cracks.
Winnie Odinga has been vocal about defending the party’s legacy and challenging members she perceives as undermining ODM’s principles. Her statements at the anniversary event emphasised that ODM was built through street protests and sacrifice, not behind-the-scenes deals.
