Independent candidate Erick Wekesa wins Chwele/Kabuchai ward seat

Independent candidate Erick Wekesa has won the Chwele/Kabuchai ward seat.

Wekesa was declared the winner by the returning officer Henry Katila, after garnering 6,162 votes in the just-concluded by-election.

His closest rival, Vincent Wekesa Maunda of the Ford Kenya party, garnered 2,765 votes.

Other candidates who were in the race include Samuel Barasa (69 votes), Phanice Kutwa (52 votes), Kizito Matumbai (75 votes), Elizabeth Situma (17 votes), Dan Simiyu (29 votes), Margaret Nabwala (04 votes) and Evans Barasa (41 votes).

The seat fell vacant following the death of the former MCA James Barasa Mukhongo, who passed on in August.
