Kabuchai MP: Western Kenya 2027 aspirants must align with Sifuna or face defeat
Kabuchai Member of Parliament Majimbo Kalasinga has warned that any aspirant from Western Kenya who does not align with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna will face defeat in 2027.
Speaking during the funeral of the uncle of the outspoken senator, held at KMTC grounds in Bungoma, Kanduyi Constituency, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, Kalasinga stated that all elective seats in the region will be won only by those who support the embattled Edwin Sifuna, Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
“Kama wewe unatoka eneo la western na unaenda kusimama kiti chochote, whether MCA, MP, governor ama Senator, kama hauimbi wimbo wa Sifuna nyumbani,” Kalasinga said

He further urged members of the United Opposition to rally behind Sifuna to create a formidable team capable of defeating President William Ruto in 2027.
Wamboka endorsing Sifuna
Bumula MP Jack Wamboka, who has been critical of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula for their decision to wait until 2032 to vie for the presidency after President William Ruto’s term, stated that the region has no problem with their 2032 ambitions.

However, according to Wamboka, the Mulembe region’s current focus is on supporting Edwin Sifuna in challenging President Ruto in 2027.
He insisted that the region has firmly backed Sifuna as its candidate and that he will face Ruto on the ballot, noting that Wetang’ula and Mudavadi are free to pursue their plans for 2032.
“Sisi 2027 sifuna anaonana na Ruto macho kwa macho; sasa hao ndugu zetu wacha wapangange yao ya 2032 hata wakitaka 2052. Hi oni yao, lakini sisi tuko na sifuna,” Wamboka said.
Both MPs, despite being from other parties, have come out to join the Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi team, which is largely composed of rebel leaders within ODM who oppose the party’s current direction ahead of 2027. They joined the team when it was still known as the Kenya Moja Parliamentary Caucus.
Sifuna’s woes

They recently participated in Linda Mwananchi rallies held in Kakamega and Mbale towns, which saw massive turnouts in support of Sifuna.
The senator is gradually gaining traction through the movement after being ousted from his secretary general position in ODM and replaced by his deputy, Catherine Omanyo, who also serves as Busia Woman Representative.
However, Sifuna was later reinstated by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal (PPDT).
