Gachagua reveals details of his meeting with delegation from Turkana County

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed the details of his meeting with a delegation from Turkana County, which paid him a visit at his private resident in Karen, Nairobi.
Taking to his official social media accounts on Monday, April 14, 2025, Gachagua stated that the Turkana delegation to his home was led by Lobei/Kotaruk MCA Anarclet Lemuya.
Lokichar Wad MCA Samuel Lomodo, Peter Akono, a former CEC Turkana County, and youth leader Julius Nakiru also attended the meeting.
“Today, at my Private Residence in Nairobi, I was privileged to have a candid discussion with a delegation from Turkana County led by Hon. Anarclet Lemuya (Lobei/Kotaruk MCA). Hon Samuel Lomodo (Lokichar Wad MCA), Hon Peter Akono (former CEC Turkana County) and youth leader Julius Nakiru,” Gachagua’s statement read in part.
Gachagua on crude oil
Gachagua further revealed that their discussions focussed on several pressing issues that impact the community and their future as a people, with the crude oil extraction in the area and the benefits to the locals and Kenya as a whole, featuring in the meeting.
“Our discussions were both enlightening and crucial, focusing on several pressing issues that impact the community and their future as a people. One of the key challenges we discussed is the crude oil extraction in the area and the benefits to the locals and Kenya as a whole. The complexities of natural resource management and the need for equitable benefits for the local populace are issues of deep concern. How we navigate this landscape could significantly impact the economic and social fabric of Turkana County,” Gachagua wrote on X.
Gachagua who is set to launch his new party in May, also stated that they had explored the political direction and the future of the Turkana people.
He argued that there is a desire for strong, representative leadership that prioritizes the needs and aspirations of the community at the National arena.
‘It is vital that the voices of the residents be heard clearly in this journey. We also explored the political direction and the future of the Turkana people. As they navigate the political landscape, the people of Turkana are seeking representation that truly reflects their interests,” he stated.
