Rigathi Gachagua‘s Democracy for Citizens (DCP) Party has revealed details of its first National Executive Council (NEC) meeting conducted on June 3, 2025.

In a statement on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, DCP’s Secretary-General Hezron Obaga indicated that since the unveiling of the Party on May 17, 2025, the party had arrived at the following resolutions.

The party launch that was scheduled for June 4, 2025, and later moved to June 3, 2025, wouldn’t take place because the management of the Kasarani Sports Centre, at the behest of the government, cancelled the venue booking with no possibility of a future date.

Scout for alternative venue

DCP has now directed Obaga to scout for a suitable private venue where the party could have its official launch within the month of June.

“NEC directed the Secretary General to source an alternative and suitable private venue for the party launch within the month of June, 2025; once this is identified and agreed upon, we shall communicate to our party members and supporters accordingly,” the statement reads in part.

To bolster its strength in the grassroots, DCP resolved to begin a recruitment drive for interim county coordinators to coordinate support and popularity of the party. The county coordinators will also support the existing party secretariat.

Party offices

Another resolution arrived at during DCP’s first NEC meeting was the establishment of county and constituency offices in all areas where they have not been established.

However, the NEC indicated that all party offices will have to be sanctioned by the party’s top decision-making organ, noting that all offices created without the NEC’s approval will be deemed illegal.

“The National Executive Council further appreciated the enthusiasm of aspirants across the country in opening up party offices; whereas this is appreciable, it is guided that any party office must be sanctioned by the NEC and thus any such offices outside of this are deemed illegal,” the statement reads.

Also, the NEC sanctioned the establishment of aspirants’ forums in all counties to be guided by County Coordinators, and encouraged all aspirants across the country gunning for elective positions on the DCP party ticket to get in touch with party headquarters for further guidance.

“The DCP party remains steady in its philosophy of listening to the people of the Republic of Kenya and on course for the liberation journey of our nation, whose soul has been tattered by irresponsible and deaf leadership,” Obaga remarked.
