December 4, 2023: Top news events to look out for today
Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.
EACC briefing
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) will issue a statement at Sunshine Villas, a public property recovered from grabbers, located in the Dunga area, opposite Yatch Club-Kisumu City.
EACC is also expected to give a status update on corruption investigations and recovery of grabbed public property in Kisumu and other counties in the Nyanza Region.
DP Gachagua in Garissa and Tana River
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will be in Garissa and Tana River to launch the disbursement of cash transfers to families affected by El Nino rains.
He is expected to be at the Regional Commissioner’s office in Garissa Town at 9:00 am and later at Madogo at 10:00 am.
At 11:00 am, he is scheduled to be at Garsen High School in Tana River.
Power blackouts
Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in two counties on Monday, December 4.
In a statement, the utility company said some parts of Kiambu and Laikipia counties will be affected by the scheduled interruptions.
In Kiambu County, the areas to be affected include Mataara, Gachege, and several surrounding locations. The planned power interruption starts at 9:00 am and ends at 5:00 pm.
In Laikipia County, the planned power interruption will affect the Jua Kali area, commencing at 8:00 am and ending at 4:00 pm.
COP28
Today marks day four of the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) more commonly referred to as Conference of the Parties (COP28.)
The 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference kicked off on November 30 and will run until December 12, 2023, at Expo City, Dubai.
