Tusker ace Onchwari targeting permanent role after debut

Tusker FC defender Alex Onchwari says he is focused on securing a starting berth at the club following his maiden appearance.
The former Muhoroni Youth and Zoo fc player earned his debut at the Ruaraka side on Sunday, February, 2, 2025 in a barren draw against KCB. He joined the side on July 2024.
Speaking of his seven-months long wait before earning his debut, Onchwari said he bid his time with patience and remained focus.
“I’m incredibly thankful to have finally earned the chance to play. I’m grateful to the technical bench for believing in me and giving me the opportunity. I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long, and it’s finally here. I’ll keep working hard to make sure I stay in the team,” Onchwari told the club’s media.
Never gave up
“I always knew my chance would come eventually, and I never gave up, even when I wasn’t getting minutes. I stayed patient and never had any regrets. I kept working hard and staying ready for whenever I was needed,” he added.

Coach praises
The defender was the subject of praises from his coach Charles Okere, who reserved encouraging words following the result against KCB,
“Congratulations to him. We played as a team and defended as a team. The key thing for him is how he played, His interception, defence work and everything was top-notch. He is a resilient player who waited for 18 games before he got his chance. He came up today and gave a strong performance. It’s an encouragement for all in the team. We need all players for the second leg, “ his coach observed.
Ugandan new signing Dennis Iguma joined the former Ololunga player among the club’s debutants in the clash.
The title-challenging side is among the team to have beefed up their ranks ahead of a crucial and busy second-half schedule.
