Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau insists he and his side are not getting carried away with the prospects of winning the FKF Premier League title despite currently sitting at the summit of the table.

The Mailmen moved three points clear of champions Gor Mahia following their 2-0 victory against Bandari on Sunday. The victory, their sixth of the current campaign, saw Posta reach 19 points, three more than second-placed Gor Mahia, who drew 0-0 against Bidco United in their fixture.

Despite the good run of form, Kamau has maintained their focus is to take it a game at a time while downplaying the fact they have the chance to win their maiden league title in history.

“I don’t think we need to talk about the title now,” Kamau told reporters when asked about their chances, adding: “It’s too early to start talking or even thinking of the title. We are winning our matches but one thing I don’t want to distract my players is the title talks.

He added: “If we start thinking of winning the title now with only nine matches played, I bet we will not be honest to ourselves, we still have a long way to go to conclude the season.”

Kamau further said his target for now is to improve on the project he has initiated at Posta and check on the table at the end of the season.

“For now I want to focus on the project that is coming out good here, we are doing things right and if we continue doing the basics, that turn out to give us the points, then we can wait and see where the team will be on the table when we end the season,” added Kamau.

Posta have won six matches, drawn one, and lost one and they will next face Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bidco United coach Japeth Akhulia admits being frustrated with the team’s quality to finish off the chances they are creating.

“Looking at how we are playing, we are defending well but again we don’t want to use our chances to score goals,” bemoaned Akhulia, adding: “We must improve on our finishing, we need to improve offensively because if we can manage to draw 0-0 it means we are good at the defending, but what about scoring.”

After their 0-0 draw against Gor Mahia, Bidco, who are sitting sixth on the 18-team table with 11 points, will take on Muhoroni Youth at Kasarani Annex tomorrow.
