Odhiambo opens up on inspiration behind Gor Mahia move
Gor Mahia‘s latest addition, Levin Odhiambo, has revealed that his driving force in football is the sheer joy of the game, which led him to seek a move where he could both enjoy himself and continue to learn.
The reigning champions wasted no time in securing Odhiambo’s services, swiftly swooping in after his one-year contract with Tusker FC expired.
Gor Mahia sign Odhiambo
The announcement of his acquisition came shortly after he became a free agent.
Initial attempts to secure his signature in January were thwarted by Tusker FC’s high demands, but Gor Mahia waited, ultimately sealing the deal on free transfer.
In his first interview with Gor Mahia TV, Odhiambo shared his excitement about joining the club, emphasizing the importance of enjoying the game and the welcoming atmosphere he has encountered since arriving.
“I believe football has to be fun, and at the end of the day, you have to be somewhere you can enjoy this football and learn from it,” he expressed.
“I’ve enjoyed my time since I came here on Tuesday. It has been nice, I’ve been welcomed well, and since Tuesday till now, I’m enjoying my time here, and I believe there’s more to enjoy as time goes by.”
Looking ahead to his debut for Gor Mahia against Kakamega Homeboyz, Odhiambo urged fans to come out in full force to support the team.
“The weekend is here, and I believe we have a big match on the weekend. I’ll assure them to come all and support us. I believe their support is going to help us through the match, and I believe we are going to win if they show up all,” he encouraged.
Odhiambo before Gor Mahia move
Odhiambo’s football journey has seen him progress from Mathare United to Tusker FC, where he showcased his skills before making the move to Gor Mahia. Known for his expertise on the left side of defense, his arrival bolsters Gor Mahia’s defensive options.
As action resumes in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League, Odhiambo joins Gor Mahia’s squad alongside other recent signings, Mark Shaban, Shariff Musa, and Enock Wanyama. With competition for places heating up, Odhiambo is poised to make his mark alongside seasoned defenders like team captain Geoffrey Onyango.
