KVF unveils U20 women’s volleyball team for Africa Championship
Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has unveiled the U20 women’s volleyball team for the African Women’s Championship games in Yaounde, Cameroon.
The tournament will start on Sunday, August 3, 2025, and run through to Wednesday, August 12, 2025.
The Kenya team is led by skipper Daisy Chepkirui and Terry Tata, who plies her trade with KCB Volleyball Club, the recently crowned winners of the inaugural Kenya Cup.
Other players in the 12-member team are Eddah Jepkemei, Milka Akinyi, Mary Nanjala, Daisy Chepkirui, Benta Oluoch, Sharon Akinyi, Patricia Chemutai, Sheila Wabwile, Esabella Nafula, and Sharon Jepkosgei.
Departure
According to the itinerary from the KVF, the team will fly out of the country on Saturday, August 2, 2025, morning for Yaoundé.
This comes after the delegation of players and the team’s technical bench was flagged off by Cabinet Secretary for Sports Salim Mvurya at the Talanta Plaza in Nairobi on Friday
The U20 Championships will also serve as the 2026 World Championships qualifiers.

The team will be under the tutelage of former Kenyan international and Kenya Defence Forces women’s team coach Jackline Barasa. Luke Kariuki will serve as her assistant.
During the continental games, Kenya will pit its wits against Burundi, Uganda, Burundi, Egypt, Senegal, and host Cameroon.
Speaking ahead of the team departure, Salim Mvurya urged the volleyball queens to use the continental platform to secure their place on the global stage and represent Kenya among the world’s volleyball powerhouses.
“This tournament serves as a vital qualifier for the FIVB World Volleyball Championship, offering our team a golden opportunity to secure their place on the global stage and represent Kenya among the world’s volleyball powerhouses. I commended the team for their confidence, discipline, and unwavering commitment to patriotic duty. They affirmed their readiness to compete with pride and determination, flying the Kenyan flag high, upholding the spirit of sportsmanship, and serving as powerful role models for young girls across the country,” he said.
