KCB became the Dala 7s champions after beating Kenya Cup heavyweights Kabras 17-5 in a final that was held at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium Mamboleo Grounds on Sunday, June 2, 2023.

The win over Kabras means the Bankers have now won five titles at Dalas 7s, and they also claimed the title, which they had last won in 2019.

KCB revenge

The win is viewed as sweet revenge by KCB over Kabras after they lost back-to-back Kenya Cup and Enterprise finals to their arch-rivals. Kabras, who have won the last four finals, were in the fifth sevens final.

Kabras scored through scrum-half Barry Robinson, who split the defense to the try-box; however, his conversion was wide, and thus a good chance to widen the gap was lost. Edmund Anya scored for KCB as the Kenya 7s centre scored behind the posts for a 7-5 margin, and this followed Brian Wahinya’s conversion.

Jacob Ojee collected a loose pass and went to score a try, but Wahinya did not make a successful conversion.

KCB registered their third try through Kenya 7s captain Vincent Onyala. The national side skipper was playing in the 7s for the first time after he recovered from an injury he suffered in Hong Kong.

KCB withstood the immense pressure from Kabras and lifted their first 7s title this term.
