Kayci Odhiambo reflects on AFC Leopards’ mood ahead of APS Bomet encounter
AFC Leopards defender Kayci Odhiambo has reflected on the mood in the camp of the 1998 Kenyan Premier League winners ahead of their Saturday, January 17, 2026, encounter with newbies APS Bomet at Nyayo National Stadium starting at 4:00 pm local time.
Ahead of the crucial fixture, Ingwe will be seeking to make it three wins in a row after beating Nairobi United 2-0 and whitewashing Tusker FC 4-0, picking up six vital points and recording six important goals with two clean sheets on the bounce at the same venue.
Reflecting on the stellar performance in the past two outings, the ace said he is marvelling at the level of professionalism and mood in the camp of the team as they chase the elusive title.

Mood in the camp
”First of all, we thank God for the six points on the road. Looking at the mood in the camp, it is so professional. I have never felt this ready since I signed for this club. Players are eagerly waiting for the next match, even looking at the input in the training,” Odhiambo said.
AFC Leopards are firmly in the title race, placed second on the log with 30 points, trailing leaders and bitter rivals Gor Mahia. The two Football Kenya Federation Premier League heavyweights are tied on 30 points; K’Ogalo leads courtesy of a healthy goal difference (11) compared to Ingwe’s 10 goals.
Despite the tight table, Kayci is adamant that Fred Ambani’s charges are focused and taking each game at a time.
”We are very focused; the next match is like a final. We are going to look for the most crucial points. I am not going to underrate any team; every match we are going for a win. We respect our opponents, but we just have to win our matches,” he added.
Ambani’s award

The APS Bomet’s fixture comes immediately after Fred Ambani was named the December 2025 Sportpesa League Coach of the Month, an award that Odhiambo says is well deserved.
”Our coach won the December Coach of the Year Award; we are proud of him. We are happy for his achievement. He deserves it, looking at how he has motivated us,” he added.
AFC Leopards has for many decades been riding on the support of their loyal supporters, and Odhiambo says the team will reward them at the end of the season: ”To the fans, we are very grateful; you always show up in all matches and support us well. Do not give up; we promise that you will be happy in the end when the season folds,” Kayci Odhiambo said.
