Ingwe raids NSL side for prolific goal poacher
AFC Leopards have announced the signing of striker Elias Mugane, who joins the team from National Super League side Fortune Sacco FC.
In a statement on their X page this Friday, September 5. 2025, Ingwe stated that the attacker had agreed to a two-year deal at the den, marking an end to his six-year stint with the NSL outfit.
2-year contract
“AFC Leopards is pleased to announce the signing of Ellias Mugane from National Super League side Fortune Sacco FC. The 2024/25 NSL top scorer joins the den on a 2-year contract,” the statement read.
Mugane’s step up in his career comes straight after he was among the standout goal scorers in the 2025/26 season.
The lethal attacker bagged 22 goals and claimed several assists to inspire the Kirinyaga-based team to a fifth-place finish in the league.
Mugane’s arrival adds to recent incoming transfers from the former KPL giants. Among other players confirmed by the club for the new season is Deng Kang, who has been promoted for kickabouts with the senior team.
The lanky attacking midfielder earned his promotion after being with the Leopards Cubs, the youth team, since 2023.
Meanwhile, Ingwe also bolstered its goalkeeping department with the acquisition of Samuel Ambale Kusindi.

The shot stopper joined the club on a two-year contract from Nairobi’s Division 2 side Nashville FC. He joined a department that also has Levis Opiyo and Ugandan custodian James Ssetuba, who joined the club in the middle of the 2024/25 season from Kakamega Homeboyz.
On the administrative front, AFC Leopards head into the new campaign under new leadership after the club polls in mid-2025 saw Boniface Ambani elected the club’s new chair amid a fresh wave of optimism from the club fan base.
Speaking to People Daily Sports in a past interview after taking the reins at the den, Ambani ranked returning the club to its glory days of silverware as among his targets.
“AFC Leopards has the most loyal supporters in Kenyan football. They will always stand with the team whether they lose, win, or draw. For us in the office, we are working on winning trophies because the best gift you can give a fan is a title,” Ambani stated.
Amabani succeeded former Gor Mahia player Dan Shikanda, who did not contest the elections after the expiry of his tenure.
