Harambee Stars youthful player Suleiman Mansur has said he no longer picks up calls from strange numbers following their eventful CHAN 2024 campaign, which has turned them into multi-millionaires.

Speaking during a live TV interview on Sunday, August 17, 2025, Mansur noted that he would be maintaining his tight circle of friends and family.

“I get called a lot of times, but for me, I will stick to my principles of focusing on my closest friends and family and the people who have been with me in this struggle because fame brings all types of people,” Mansur said.

Challenges new friends

He challenged acquaintances who could be tempted to call him to ask themselves where they were when he was a nobody.

“When a new number calls, I cannot answer such, and this should not be misconstrued. Where were you when I was a nobody, only to come when I am in the limelight to ask for this and that?” Mansur posed.

Mansur has been instrumental in the group A fixture wins that have seen Kenya win three of four matches to secure the top spot with 10 points.

As a player, Suleiman is known for his versatility, primarily playing as a left-footed center-back but capable of also operating as a left-back or in a defensive midfield role.

Coach McCarthy praised his tactical maturity, describing him as a ‘young, energetic, and brave’ player who is always striving to do his best for the team.

On a roll

His style of play is described as being a more ‘composed defender’ who pays attention to tactics. He is also described as a ‘fearless’ player who just wants to play.

Harambee Stars players have also gathered millions along the campaign. Each player and member of the technical bench is now at least Ksh5.5 million richer courtesy of a cash incentive by President William Ruto.

On top of that, Harambee Stars were promised Ksh60 million for qualifying for the quarter finals and Ksh70 million for a seat at the semis. Ruto equally promised a huge payout of Ksh600 million if they win the tournament.
