Harambee Stars will travel to Rwanda for the inaugural FIFA series action during the upcoming international window slated to kick off on Monday, March 23, as confirmed by FIFA.

The Football Kenya Federation has, on Monday, January 19, 2026, revealed that Kenya has been drawn in Group A alongside Estonia, Grenada, and hosts Rwanda for the series.

“We are drawn in CAF Group A with Estonia, Grenada, and Rwanda for the FIFA Series International Friendlies in Kigali. Dates: March 23-31, 2026, Venue: Kigali, Rwanda,” part of the national team statement read.

The FIFA Series is a global initiative aimed at enhancing competitive exposure for national teams across different football confederations.

Dates

The first 2026 fixtures will be played in Kigali, Rwanda, from Monday, March 23, through Tuesday, March 31.

The series will see teams grouped together to play friendly matches in a centralised venue, offering a unique opportunity for intercontinental football engagement.

The presence of teams from Europe, the Caribbean, and Africa underlines the global football governing body’s objective of promoting cross-confederation competition.

AFCON 2027

The series comes at a critical juncture just as the continental football action shifts from the 2025 AFCON to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

The matches will offer the technical bench led by Benni McCarthy the opportunity to assess his charges and expose the squad to diverse styles of play as preparations for the continental showpiece gather momentum.

Kenya will be hoping to shore up its preparations against the football minnows from the UEFA and CONCACAF confederations.

According to the 2025 ranking, Estonia is placed 130th in the FIFA football world rankings, just a rank above Kenya’s East African neighbours and rivals, Rwanda.

Grenada, which has been an affiliate member of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) since 1969, comes at a distant 164th.

Kenya’s Harambee Stars attained a 113th ranking in the December standings.
