Gor Mahia FC has announced a raft of drastic measures aimed at streamlining the club’s revenue collection and improving fans’ experience in their home games.

In a statement shared through the club media site on Friday, June 6, 2025, club Secretary General Nickanor Arum confirmed that the club has decided to suspend the deployment of stewards, branch representatives, and security officials at stadium gates during home matches until further notice.

The decision comes after the team staged the 97th edition of the Mashemeji Derby in Homa Bay on Tuesday, June 2, 2025, with reports indicating the club lost revenue over unscrupulous practices from a section of the club’s personnel.

“As we aim to streamline operations at the club, the management has made a unanimous decision that during our home matches, all gates shall be free of stewards, branch representatives, and Gor Mahia security until further notice. Following this decision, the management will organise alternative security personnel to take charge of our last home match against Police FC,” the statement intimated.

The club has further announced that its electronic ticketing system will remain in place. The club has, however, cautioned fans against paying individuals to access the stadium.

“On matters of ticketing, we started the e-ticketing process, and we wish to confirm that the same will continue as planned. This is one of the elements we aim to achieve in our quest to transform the club. We urge all to use official link provided to purchase tickets well in advance to avoid last-minute confusion. We strongly advise against paying anyone money to have access to the match venue.

Arum has additionally confirmed that the directive will extend to all club officials wishing to attend the team’s home games.

With no exclusion, everyone, including club officials, will buy their tickets to have access to all our home matches,” the club stated.

K’Ogalo has further challenged the branches to comply with a wide-ranging reform set to impact the respective branches affiliated with the 21-time league champions.

Among the requirements stipulated for the branches are paying a Ksh20,000 affiliation fee, conducting their internal elections, and nominating two stewards.

“A request is hereby placed to all branches countrywide to affiliate with the club by paying the KSh20,000 affiliation fee. Branches are also hereby directed to hold internal elections within 60 days of this directive. Each branch should have a minimum of 50 registered members who must be active.

The club has said that the stewards will henceforth be charged solely with the responsibility of crowd control.

“Branches will be required to nominate two stewards who will then elect their officials. Nominated stewards will be required to possess a valid certificate of good conduct. The role of stewards will purely be field control,” the statement concluded.
